Oh the joy of Buoy Baby! It began as an exploration in subtlety with the goal of a seamless and shimmering gradient between cyan and yellow. Once the sky and sea scene was in place, an exuberant sea lion (a staple sight in Newport, Oregon!), sunbathing in the light came to mind. His uplifting and peaceful personality really shines through in this piece as he basks in the sun while floating on a tilting buoy in the open ocean.
